Storytellers of Cedar Rapids Kicks Off with Spectacular Success!
The new series debuted with a fun night of music, open mics, and unforgettable stories.
The inaugural Storytellers of Cedar Rapids event was an incredible success! The turnout exceeded expectations as the community gathered to share in an evening of heartfelt storytelling, music, and connection. To start us off, local legend Kevin Burt took the stage, wowing the crowd with his captivating presence and soulful performances, setting the tone for a truly memorable night.
The night highlighted our 5 featured storytellers: Courtney Ball, Jason Edwards, Eric Gutschmidt, Akwi Nji, and Ruth Modrow. Their previous weeks’ labor in their workshops paid off as they each delivered unforgettable tales that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance. The evening also included 4 open mic opportunities, allowing audience members to take the spotlight and share their own stories. It was inspiring to see such a diverse range of voices participate, each bringing something unique to the stage.
We heard stories of friendship and the power of kindness, proving how it can make you feel awesome. There were tales of mastering a skill—even when performing in front of famous people who seem more talented. We also had gripping accounts of loss, survival, and narrowly avoiding arrest in foreign countries.
We are thrilled to announce that the next Storytellers of Cedar Rapids event in this ongoing series will take place on Wednesday, November 6th.
The night will include all new storytellers, open mic opportunities and live music to continuing the momentum of this new community tradition. If you missed the first one, make sure to mark your calendars for a night of storytelling, laughter, and meaningful connections.
